The "Manoir de l'Isle"also called "le cottage des bacquets" built in 1856 on this unusual river island, first belonged to the family of Arthur Petit, an industrialist who owned a cotton factory.
His grand-daughter Claire married Edouard Andre, a world renowned landscape designer. Edouard and his son designed the beautiful and romantic park that surrounds the Hotel. Visitors will especially note the hundred-year-old trees which reinforced their design of natural impressionism.
During the WWII, the property was requisitioned by German forces and in 1945, the Andre family,now numbering 18, happily reclaimed their home.
It was in 1987 that the lovely Manoir was renovated and converted to a charming 4-star hotel, the Belle Isle sur Risle.
New oners enhanced the park over the years with many flowering plants and enlarged and improved the main building, for the comfort of their guests.
In 2010,the hotel was used in the filming of an episode of Guy de Maupassant's life "My Uncle Sosthene", starring the well-known French actor Jean Pierre Marielle.

The hotel features a gourmet restaurant. Former from the Crillon, our Chef Armand Malandain, mixing flavors and seasonal traditional ingredients sometimes with a spicy touch , will proposes you a fine and elaborate cuisine .
The meals take place in two phases, we’ll take the order in the lounge first and then we will invite you to dinner once you’re table will be ready.
Opening hours of the restaurant (order entry):
- Lunch: from 12:00 to 14:00
- In the evening: from 19:30 to 21:30
The restaurant is closed at lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
